How to: Tissue Pom Poms

My older sister is getting marries soon, so we are celebrating the bride-to-be with a tea party themed shower. So we are working on some projects and thought I would share them with you... today's post are these tissue pom poms, which could be used for many occasions. Below is a few ideas I have to decorate with them, as well as pictorial how-to directions to recreate your own.

Tissue Pom Poms: (makes 2)

Materials:
6-8 tissue pieces
thin wire
scissors

Directions:

Combine tissue pieces to fit perfectly on top of another (if you want multi-colored pom pom, use variety of colors). Fold like an accordian about 1 1/2 in thick. Can either go horizontal or vertical depending on desired size, big or large.

Fold in half and cut into two (if you want different sizes, you can always cut them at different lengths instead of just using the half mark).

Take one of the two pices and fold in half once more, so you have a creased line for visual. Next cut a slit about 1/2 inch on each side of that line, leaving middle center intact.

Cut a piece of wire about 3 inches to wrap around the slits and twist to secure.

Make a loop with remaining wire, again twisting at the top to secure-- this will be used to hang pom pom from string.

Cut the ends either with round, pointed, a couple half circles, or slits to make fringe-like ends to enhance the puffing effect when finished.

Next take your fingers and try to spread out tissue pom pom like a fan-- the more spread apart the better.

Gently pull tissue pieces apart as sometimes they can be tricky.
*Note: Wait to do this step until using as they wont get damaged and make for easier storage.

Here is the finish product!

We made quite a few of these, of different sizes, and excited to clump them together making a fun celebration arrangement. Have an incredible weekend and lots more to come next week :)
