My Favorite Oats: Banana Coconut Oatmeal

This weekend was super busy preparing for my sister's bridal shower, but it was a phenomenal turnout. I had hoped to share it for today's post, but just didnt get a chance to upload photos,etc.
But for now here is this lovely bowl of goodness.

This bowl of oats is a delicious combination, I always look forward to making it in the morning! This is definitely a hearty and filling breakfast, as it keeps me full all morning, packed with nutrients, and can  be a breakfast with no added sugar, as the banana acts as a natural sweetener.

Banana Coconut Oatmeal: (1 serving)
1 small banana (ripe is better)
1/3 cup oats
1 cup milk or water
1 Tablespoon shredded coconut
1 Tablespoon ground flaxseed or chia seeds (optional)
1 teaspoon cinnamon

In a small saucepan bring water or milk to a boil. Slice bananas into coins and again in halves. Add oats, shredded coconut, banana, and cinnamon to the pan. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. About half way through add seeds if using. Once the oats have soaked the moisture and become thick, oatmeal is ready. Remove from heat and pour into a bowl, top with additonal coconut shreds, maple syrup, or brown sugar. I prefer no added sugar, but make to your preference.
