Banana Muesli

Starting the week off with a heart healthy, natural and filling cereal. Müesli is a popular breakfast meal based on uncooked rolled oats, fruit and nuts.  Originated towards the end of the 1800's in Switzerland, by Dr. Maximilian Bircher-Benner who invented a mix of rolled oats, apples, milk, lemon and nuts to serve for breakfast in his hospital. The mix has evolved into a range of different forms featuring different whole grains and fruits. [source]
Homemade muesli is super simple as all you have to do is toss together the desired ingredients. And you can make a larger batch and keep it in a sealed container or just make the mix fresh each morning. You can mix it with milk, nonfat yogurt or orange juice to make a filling snack or breakfast treat.  You can buy it premixed, or you can make your own.

Banana Muesli: (serves 1)
1/4 cup oats
1/4 puffed amaranth
1 tbs raisins
1 tbs pepitas
1 tbs chia seeds
1 banana, sliced
sprinkle cinnamon
milk or juice
drizzle of honey or sryup
fresh berries or any fruit

Directions: Toss all dry ingredients together in a small bowl, slice banana and add to muesli mixture, top with milk or juice, cinnamon, and any desired sweetener (I omitted) and enjoy.

May your week be beyond blessed!
