Basic Flat bread

This flat bread is so simple and is a great basic for any meal or snack! Dip it into hummus, turn it into a garlic flat bread, sandwich wrap or as a base for a pizza or if you roll it out thin enough, you can make a tortilla. You only need 5 ingredients to make these versatile breads and they are relatively healthy using a minimal amount of oil and you could also easily replace half the flour with whole wheat. The husband and I loved these and enjoyed getting creative with how we could eat them-- mixing in spices, adding toppings, pairing with meals. I make them often and we eat them up with in a couple days as they don't have a long shelf life.

Basic Flat Bread: (8 servings)
from Snixy Kitchen
Ingredients:
2 cups of flour +  rolling
1½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
¾ cups warm milk
spices & seasoning (optional)

Directions:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the vegetable oil and combine. Continue to mix with a wooden spoon or electric mixer, slowly add the warm milk and combine.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured cutting board and knead for a couple of minutes, until the dough is soft. Roll the dough into a ball and put it in a medium bowl. Rest, covered with plastic wrap, for 20 minutes.
Split the dough into eight pieces and roll each into a ball. Place the dough balls on a plate so that they aren’t touching and let rest, covered with plastic wrap, for 10 more minutes.
Using a rolling pin, roll a ball until 1/4- 1/2 in thick or desired thickness on a lightly floured cutting board. Top with desired seasonings or flavors at this point. Transfer to a plate and keep covered while your roll out the rest. Repeat until you’ve rolled out all eight. Heat a cast iron skillet on high or any pan, however the cast iron is best. Cook each for about 45 seconds, then flip. Heat for an additional 30 seconds on the second side, until it puffs up a little. Transfer to a plate and keep covered while you cook the rest.

Whisk dry ingredients together until well combined.
Add oil and mix.
While stirring, slowly pour in milk.
Combine wet & dry ingredients.
At this point, begin to use your hands to combine.
Form a giant ball.
Begin to knead for a few minutes on a floured surface.
Dough should be soft and easily mold-able.
Cover w/ plastic wrap for 20 minutes.
Form into 8 dough balls, cover w/ plastic and let sit for another 20 minutes.
Roll out each dough ball on a floured surface about 1/4 in thick.
Add seasonings (optional) & continue to roll out.

Heat skillet on high, cook for 45 seconds, should start to bubble.
Flip & cook for another 30 seconds, until slightly browned.
Now be creative and eat as you like :)
